How can I know that my faith is saving faith? Did you know that John Wesley (founder of Methodism) struggled with that very question early in life? Ultimately, Wesley got the answer to his question and came to an experience of deep and abiding faith in Christ. Still, he thought the question so important that he made it the focus of the first sermon in what is now known as his Standard Sermons.
The sermon is called "Salvation by Faith" and it addresses two questions:
What is the faith by which we are saved?
What is the salvation that comes through faith?
I dig in to Wesley's answers to those two questions in a new video on the Theology Project YouTube Channel and explore what faith is and what faith is not. We also take a look at three ways we are saved according to John Wesley's sermon. Click the blue button to WATCH NOW.
